Meet Julie

I'm Julie, the bookkeeper and owner behind Compass Rose Accounting. Based in Chicago's Jefferson Park neighborhood, I work with service-based business to keep their bookkeeping on track.

I started Compass Rose in 2022 to help local small business owners get the same kind of financial clarity that larger corporations take for granted.

Over a decade of small business accounting experience

Before Compass Rose, I spent years working as an Accounting Manager, supporting small businesses from the inside. That experience taught me how much a clean set of books actually matters throughout the year and not just at tax time.

I specialize in QuickBooks Online, and most of my clients run construction, trades, real estate, or consulting businesses. These industries have bookkeeping needs that a general practice often doesn't fully understand, from job costing, contractor payments, syncing with apps like Jobber and Housecall Pro. I'm not learning this on the fly. It's the work I do every day.

A certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor and Payroll, too

Being a ProAdvisor means I go beyond recording transactions. I set QuickBooks Online up correctly from the start, clean up the chaos when books have gotten away from someone, and make sure the software is working for you instead of becoming one more thing to manage. I'm also certified in QuickBooks Payroll and Gusto Payroll, so if you need payroll help, I’m here for that as well.
